My son had a book to read yesterday (How Full is Your Bucket, by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer, video below), that was so neat I kind of wanted to just retype the whole thing for the site. It’s not about IMVU of course but it definitely applies a lot. I guess a lot of life principles apply here. It’s just easier to see things in here sometimes.
The point of the book was that we all have a bucket that we use for our good feelings. And we are either filling each others buckets or we are emptying their bucket. We can’t fill our own buckets but we can fill other people’s buckets. If we always fill the buckets of the people around us, we will get our own bucket filled in the process. And taking something out of someone else’s bucket does NOT add it to ours.
It was cute but it made me think of here for some reason. When we start here we think its just a fun sexy game or something. But along the way as we start to connect with our avi and connect with friends we learn to let our walls down and our heart out and it almost takes on a life of its own. And the principle we kind of know for life seem to work even more clearly in this clutter free virtual world.
So even though you can do or be anything you want in imvu, you’ll probably find that being a better version of yourself is much more rewarding . I don’t mean better in terms of morals but I mean better in how you treat others. Karma definitely applies here and in the end whatever you give out is what you’ll get back.
Love everyone with all your heart. Don’t play games, just fill buckets and you’ll soon find that your own bucket is more than overflowing. One of the neat things I think I’ve learned here is to just pour out love and share easily. Sure, pixels are initially attractive, but what really makes you attractive in IMVU his your heart. As long as you keep filling buckets and sharing with the people around you will be loved and have the time of your life in imvu!
After a little while after you start to get comfortable in here with how to move, how to dress and the etiquette, you’ll start to let your thoughts flow straight to the keys. That’s when it’s fun and you’ll understand the potential. You’ll open up and maybe even talk more than you do in real life. I don’t feel like I can be this open and just let things flow as much in real life. It’s just more freeing here, but wait it gets better.
As you let your thoughts flow you start to share things you wouldn’t usually share with anyone, and let emotions flow and all of a sudden you realize you’ve opened up and let your HEART flow. You can’t do this with just anyone. You have to take some time, to be sure they’re trustworthy. Tearing down your walls has to be done one brick at a time at the same time the other person does. If you tear down your walls but they don’t as much you won’t be balanced or have as good of a relationship. You have to really get to know their heart in order to build that heart felt connection.
You’ll know when it happens. You can’t rush it but it does get easier the more you do it. In that regard I think this is a great training program, to some degree. It’s not just your thoughts but your heart and you have to protect that sometimes, but also learn to share it with the right person. All of this is easier to say than to do, and you’ll make some mistakes and get hurt. And when you get hurt in here it hurts more than most other things because it hurts straight into your heart. That’s why you have to protect it at times, but also open up and share things. All of this may sound crazy and make no sense if you haven’t been here a while. If you think this is dumb or fake, just learn to let your thoughts flow into the keys. You’ll have fun and don’t have to share too much else… yet.
Beauty in IMVU comes from the heart. It comes from sharing your heart and your love after you’ve lowered your walls. Pixels are easy to change and only make you sexy on the outside but your heart is what makes real beauty.
Love Is a combination of sexy and beauty mixed with strong emotions and often a healthy dose of friendship and commitment. I wish there was a way to explain the love I feel in here. I don’t mean to write exclusively about that, but I’m just so blown away by things right now it’s hard to think about anything else.
I want to know your Heart, was a song we sang in church this Sunday and it reminded me of IMVU so much. One of the amazing things about this crazy place is how it lets you really know and touch someone else’s heart. It’s just a silly cartoon chat program but when you connect I mean really connect with someone you truly love, you wind up with such an amazing full heart connection.
We all go through life doing laundry and cutting the grass but inside I think we kind of yearn to connect, to love and be loved. And this silly game (yes I’m just saying that to tease HollyK) somehow lets you do this sometimes in the most amazing way. I don’t know if this is the purpose of life, but it kind of feels like the purpose of imvu, the ultimate feeling you can search a whole lifetime for, and you find it in a silly computer program. But honestly it’s not the computer program it’s the person on the other side of the screen.
One of the nicest things about IMVU is the ability to talk to someone, really talk to them about anything. Your friends here are detached, and not involved in the issues, don’t have any angle or concern about anything other than you. In some ways I sometimes feel a therapist at times, or just a trusted and experienced friend and vice versa with them. But no matter what being able to share back and forth in a really honest heartfelt way is invaluable. It’s something you just don’t get anywhere in real life very often, if at all. I have friends, in the PTA, from church and cub scouts and some neighbors but you just don’t talk about deep personal things with them like you can in here.
I remember one of my best friends had a co-worker that came into IMVU and she said it was funny because her friend would talk about things much more personal in here than the same friend ever would with her in person. Where else can you have deep talks about relationships one minute and be laughing till you cry with someone the next minute. I also love sharing the fun and emotions, living vicariously through really great friends that I have a full heart connection with. Snuggling and holding a beautiful friend in your arms or slow dancing while you share things you can’t tell anyone else is sure a lot more fun than a therapist, and cheaper too. The only side effect is a lot of tears and a little more laundry.
I know nobody really has as much fun in real life as they we do in here. But I have to confess that part of the fun in here is living vicariously through my friends. Yeah I know my life is boring but that goes with the territory, being married with kids and I love my family.
I can’t talk about some of the craziest things but ironically it’s not less fun than it looks, it’s actually more. And I love being able to share it with some of the people that read this more than I can say. So the purpose of this post is just to thank you ALL of you for being such amazing friends. You know who you are and I thank you from the bottom of my MILFy heart! Kisses, Kait!!!
